Choosing the right builder is the most important decision you will make to ensure your building or remodeling experience is enjoyable, rewarding and as stress-free as possible.

Honesty, integrity, experience, longevity,  quality and customer service should be some of the qualities you should expect from your builder.

Do not be afraid to ask the important questions that will guide you in choosing a builder who will meet and exceed your every expectation.

As you consider your choice of builder, we invite you to discover Katherine Taylor’s years of experience, commitment to quality craftsmanship and an earned reputation for unsurpassed customer satisfaction.

How long have you been in business?

Are you licensed and insured to do business?

Look for a company with an established business and performance history. You want a company that has been around for a while and will continue to be around to warranty their work.

Ask for the contractor's license number and check with the Department of Commerce and local Builder's Associations to research any complaints that my be recorded. Make sure the contractor carries workers compensation and liability insurance. Ask what his/her policy is for insuring your project.

Visit the contractor's office! It will tell you a lot about professionalism, organization, and time in the business. Meet the staff that will be assisting in your project.

Are you located at a commercial location?

Do you offer design services?

Whether you are building a new home or remodeling an existing one, it is inevitable during any stage of the project that you will need design assistance. Your contractor should offer space planning, architectural services and interior product selections.

Are your on-site employees certified?

The contractor's employees should be OSHA certified to ensure your project follows all safety and environmental rules.

May I have a list of references?

The contractor should be able to provide you with a number of references including names, addresses, and phone numbers. You should be able to have the contractor arrange a tour of several completed projects similar to your own so that you can see the finished product and quality of craftsmanship.

What percentage of your business is referrals?

This will give you a good idea of the level of customer satisfaction and quality of work. A good remodeling business will attribute at least half of their sales volume to customer referrals.
